RAHUL THE REAL WALL AND A GENTLEMAN CRICKETER

RAHUL THE REAL WALL AND A GENTLEMAN CRICKETER

RAHUL DRAVID , WE MISS YOU

Privilege of witnessing his very debut Ranji Trophy outing, I was in awe of him then and am now too, yet I am one of his foremost fans. He is class apart out of the lot, a stickler for perfection beyond comparison and gentleman to the core. He had no airs of being a superstar of his stature, truly unbelievable for a person who has scored more than 28,000 runs in International cricket. In him , we found the epitome of thorough gentleman in a game called cricket which is so different today.

Men come and go, but the Wall is the real Wall that he is and was. If at all someone asks me to name the best cricketer ever remembered for his contribution and posterity, Rahul Dravid stands first and the best in real terms. Hats off Rahul Dravid. You are a Gem.

May your finesse and brilliance extend to other horizons too.Great luck sir.

We miss you on the cricketing field, but not off it…..!!!

Violin quartet perform together to enthrall invited audience

Voilin quartet perform together and create history

Venue:Gayana Smamaja, K.R. Road, Bangalore, Date: 11 August 2012  6.00PM
Occasion:Naadavaibhavam, release of  Ragapravaham CD composed by
Kumaresh & Ganesh

Felicitation: Padma Vibhushan Nadashri Dr.M.S.Gopalakrishnan

Here goes a rejoicing  and rare ocassion of watching India's 4 proudest contemporary Violinists namely Mysore Nagaraj & Manjunath alongwith Kumaresh and Ganesh who kept the audience in ruptures all through.

Imagine the audience mood when four of them performed first time ever, in front of  Octogenarian violinist and melody personified, Dr.M.S.Gopalakrishnan - conferred with 'Nadashri" Award mooted by Bangalore Gayana Samaja on the occasion.

I have been witnessing these four stalwarts performing since almost 3 decades, often catching them young. Today each one of them is a global performer par excellence.Watching them live on such an occasion reminds me of "Aasthana Sangeetha". Such was the power, purity and devotion, with each one of them complimenting the other note to note. All of them were on a roll.

May be, their performance haunts themselves each night for it's impact and bhava. It was an extrordinarily electric performance Bangaloreans shall remember always, longing for more......I compliment organizers, Bangalore Gayana Samaja for creating such an iconic moment...of course, my heartfelt gratitude to Sri Kumaresh for having chiselled out a novel idea. Rest is history..!

MUSICAL MARVEL BY BOMBAY JAYASHRI

'LISTENING TO LIFE' CONCERT BY VIDHUSHI BOMBAY JAYASHRI & ENSEMBLE
VENUE MLR CONVENTION HALL,
J.P.NAGAR 7TH PHASE, BANGALORE
DATE: 02 Aug 2012

First place, I salute this rarest musical attempt "Listening to Life', handled so meticulously by Bombay Jayashri's innate virtue and confidence. The very commentary in her resonant voice makes rasikas sit on toes and listen with rapt attention. Her impeccable command on expressive sonorous language and the griping hold of a Legend in her music stands apart. What a riveting performance by all her disciples, a discipline very rarely found and melody personified. I was in complete awe of them with no one lagging behind their mentor, in total sync, devotion or besura....!music turns very pure with all these elements working so well and falling in place what Bombay Jayashri meant. And the accompanists meant business and never let Jayashri down with uncanny ability while hemming the web for her each note.

Never before, have I heard such an awesome combination of Piano, violin, mridangam, flute and tabla in such wonderful ensemble while creating right chord. It would be grave injustice should I single out one performer. That was the magnitude of the performance, though I strongly felt that M.D.Pallavi was not at her best.

This recital is to be heartily lauded for its substance, wholesomeness and  melody of music. Jayashri's command on both carnatic and Hindustani forms of Indian music needs special mention. Whether it is 'O nanna chetana' and 'Ondu baari smarane saalade' in kannada, 'Aapki nazrone samjah' in Hindi, 'Ranjish hi sahi' Urdu ghazal and other renditions in different languages, swaras stay put in their places. So mellifluous was the recital and the perfect timing of hers.

Two hours marathon singing without blink and a sip of water, I bow to Bombay jayashri's sincerity of purpose and the way she showcased music onto connoisseurs' ears remain unparalleled.

May Goddess Vagdevi bestow more such indelible tribe and unbridled talent like Bombay Jayashriji into mainstream of art and music. An immensely likeable programme for many years to follow.

I personally congratulate all the performers, in particular, the disciples of Jayashri and accompanists for their immaculate performance. Last but not the least, I am short of words to express my wishes to Jayashriji for bringing out the best in all.

Let her Legend bring to fore, many such gems in years that follow, very painstakingly done.
She remains the Stalwart of Indianness and the music for which she is revered with awe.
